How to read the Atlas
Read the number before the color
Darker map colors represent larger values in the current CSV; lighter colors represent smaller values. The five legend bands are calculated linearly from the minimum and maximum values loaded from the file. A larger value is not labeled better or worse.
Methodology
State records joined by FIPS
The interface matches each two-digit fips value to state geometry from US Atlas. Search, filters, details, colors and table rows all use the same parsed CSV records.
Limitations
Do not infer unavailable definitions
The current CSV contains 50 state rows and only the fields fips, name and value. It does not supply a metric unit, denominator, source date, county records or a statement of current local service availability.
